December 2011: Oceanside Students Have Big Plans for the Beauty Industry in 2012

The cosmetology students at Oceanside College of Beauty have some big plans for the new year, especially when it comes to their future careers in the beauty industry. Here's what some of the outstanding students at Oceanside College of Beauty have planned for 2012:

Melanie NaylorMelanie Naylor

Melanie is on track to graduate from the cosmetology program in March 2012. She'd like to continue her education after graduating and eventually become an expert in coloring. So far, she's entered herself in sthree hairstyling competitions in 2012 — the Fantasy-Inspired by Nature competition at the Long Beach Hair Show, the Junior Style Stars Bridal competition, and the Clairol Art of Fabulous Hair Color competition.

Helen TovarHelen Tovar

Helen moved to the U.S. from Costa Rica just four years ago. She had always dreamed of going to beauty school, but put it off because of her three young children. In January 2012, Helen will accomplish one of her lifelong goals and graduate from Oceanside College of Beauty. After graduation, she'd like to work in a salon as an assistant and become a certified hair colorist. She also plans on taking business classes at Palomar Community College so one day she can open her own business.

Sherry LeisleSherry Leisle

Sherry enrolled at Oceanside College of Beauty right out of high school. She's on track to graduate from the cosmetology program in July 2012. This year, Sherry plans on working on the clinic floor as much as possible, so she can get more comfortable working with clients. Once she hits 960 hours, she plans on applying to the externship program. She would ideally like to work in a high-end salon that also specializes in retail after graduation.

Zay HinojosaZay Hinojosa

Zay had been cutting his friends' hair since high school. Since he had a natural talent for clipper cuts, he decided it was a good idea to go to school, get his license, and pursue it as a career. He enrolled in the cosmetology program at Oceanside College of Beauty, which he's scheduled to complete in March 2012. After graduation, he plans on working full time at a local barbershop.
