New Graduate Wants To Help Others Conquer Coloring
Beatriz Sandoval is ready for the next chapter of her life after graduating from the cosmetology program at Oceanside College of Beauty. She’s great at coloring, but she wants to be even better, so she plans on enrolling in a Master Colorist program.
“I love color. Experimenting with it, mixing colors to make new ones,” Beatriz said. “I think the Master Colorist program will open a lot of doors for me.”
Beatriz has already cemented herself as quite the expert in hair color. She competed in a national competition sponsored by Clairol Professional in Atlanta in February, where she finished in second place. Beatriz said the competition was life changing for her. The experience made her challenge herself and forced her to come out of her shell.
After obtaining her cosmetology license and completing the Master Colorist program, Beatriz plans on renting a chair in a salon and continuing to style hair for her already existing clientele base. She’d like to eventually do some editorial work, but ultimately Beatriz’s heart is set on becoming a beauty school educator.
Beatriz said her decision to become a teacher was inspired by her experience at Oceanside College of Beauty. She always enjoyed helping her fellow cosmetology students when they turned to her with coloring questions. She was also inspired by her favorite instructor, Miss Talitha, who helped her prepare for the state board exam.
“She always goes above and beyond in the classroom. That’s exactly the kind of teacher I want to be,” she said.
Beatriz feels she’s ready for the next chapter of her life, but she’ll miss the friends she’s made along the way at Oceanside College of Beauty.
“Beatriz was one of our star students here at Oceanside College of Beauty. I have no doubt that her passion and talent for coloring will translate into a long and successful career for her in the beauty industry,” the owner of Oceanside College of Beauty Ray Stainback said.
